Why a previous session is a poor comparison
Claude's temporary artifact promotion for Free, Pro, Max and Team is scheduled to end on 15 October 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific time. A promotional usage benefit ending is not an account reset. Check the current terms before comparing yesterday's work with the next session.
“Limit reached” can mean several different things. A short usage window, a weekly allowance and a file-upload restriction do not necessarily reset together. Read the full message before buying more capacity or starting the same task again.
Find the exhausted allowance
Note the product, account, model and reset time shown in the usage panel. Claude's current guidance distinguishes five-hour session limits from weekly limits on paid plans; usage across its chat, desktop and coding surfaces shares an allowance. The exact rules differ between providers and plans.
Suppose the short window refreshes at 16:00 but the weekly allowance is also exhausted. Waiting until 16:00 may not restore the feature you need. Check both indicators and the timezone, rather than interpreting one countdown as a complete account reset.
Save a useful stopping point
Keep the latest checked output and a short handover: task, completed work, remaining question and source files. A new conversation does not itself restore an account allowance. Repeated retries can add noise without helping the unfinished work.
Choose the next step deliberately
Wait for the applicable reset, use an available model suited to the remaining task, or review an offered paid extension and its cost. These are different choices. Subscription allowances and API billing are separate; an API token price does not tell you how many subscription tasks remain. After the reset, check the panel and try one small request before resuming a large job.
