You remove an app you barely used, then see another subscription charge. The app icon was never the billing agreement. Google Play explicitly notes that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription.
Find who is actually charging you
Start with the purchase receipt. A subscription for the same service might have been bought through Apple, Google Play or the provider’s website. Open the corresponding account yourself rather than following an unfamiliar payment message.
If the subscription is missing from the expected list, check the account named on the receipt. A second email address or a family member’s account can explain the mismatch. Installing an app from one store does not prove that the subscription was purchased there.
Cancel where it was purchased
For Google Play, open Subscriptions with the purchasing Google Account selected, choose the subscription and complete the cancellation steps. On an iPhone, Apple’s route is Settings, your name, then Subscriptions. Select the item and use the cancellation option. A subscription billed directly by the provider needs that provider’s process.
Do not treat the first cancellation screen as confirmation. Some flows ask you to confirm again. Check the final status and the date access ends; save the confirmation somewhere you can find it.
Read the end date carefully
Cancellation often stops the next renewal while leaving the paid period available. Terms differ for trials, prepaid plans and payment plans. In particular, cancelling renewal does not necessarily cancel remaining instalments under a payment plan. A refund is a separate request, not an automatic result of uninstalling or cancelling.
Suppose a trial ends on Friday. Reviewing it on Wednesday leaves room to resolve an account mix-up; this is a practical buffer, not a universal cancellation deadline. Once the account clearly shows that renewal is cancelled, decide whether you still want the app on your phone.
