A colleague asks you to improve a shared paragraph, but has not agreed to change its meaning. Suggesting mode lets you propose replacement wording while leaving a visible decision for the reviewer. It is different from silently editing the final text.
Use a suggestion when you can offer exact wording. Use a comment when you need an answer: which date is correct, or what does a term mean? In Google Docs, people with commenting or editing permission can suggest changes; access settings still govern what they can do.
Imagine a sentence that says a room is available every afternoon. If you have only confirmed Friday afternoon, a question is more honest than replacing the sentence with a confident new schedule.
The owner or authorized editor should accept or reject each proposal according to the agreed meaning. Before making a release copy, check unresolved suggestions and comments. A document that reads smoothly can still contain unanswered decisions. Keep a working version when the discussion itself needs to remain available.
